Legend has it that the dead can walk. And they do so when the fog is dense. This morning was ideal for a stroll. The headstones were barely visible beyond a few feet. Don't know why but this week I waited until the morning to take out the garbage. Usually, the garbage goes out the night before. After rolling out the trash can to the end of the driveway, I heard footsteps all around. The noise of the footsteps was loud enough to make me wonder as to whom would be walking in the cemetery so early in the morning. So I crossed the street and sure enough the footsteps stopped. I looked around and didn't see any cars. As I walked back to the house I heard the footsteps again. I thought about turning to look to see if I could see just who was walking behind me but instead, decided to continue on in to the house. Next time the fog decends upon Findlay Cemetery, I will make sure not to interrupt the dead walking.

The Little Girl
So a friend sends me this picture taken in Findlay Cemetery around 1996. She tells me no one was in the cemetery at the time the picture was taken. Look at the headstone with the name BEACH on it. (From the pine tree on the right hand side, look at the headstone next to it on the left -- next to it are two trees -- the second tree from right to left is next to the headstone in question). Now I've done some researh on the residents of FC and have found 20 individuals with that last name. Only one individual passed away as an infant. I have yet to go to the cemetery to look at the surrounding headstones (where the image of the girl is seen) to see if indeed a child is buried near. I must admit, looking at the picture gives me the chills. What do you think?

Who's watching me?
So I'm working in the garage putting summer stuff away and I hear noise outside. The "quiet" neighbors seem to have visitors tonight or so I think. It's 9:15, the air is cool and is overcast. Forest East Eastern is having a night game (soccer I presume), and the glare from the stadium lights spills over some of the headstones. I don't see any cars, nor hear the ususal nervous giggles the kids make when they visit the neighbors. I take a picture. I turn around to head back to the house and the hairs on my neck go straight up. I pick up the pace and hurry back in to the garage. Then I take a deep breath and remember the garbage can is still out on the curb. I wait until that "feeling" subsides (and the hairs on my neck settle) and head back out to the end of the driveway to get the empty can.
On the picture maybe one of the kids is hiding behind the tree.... I don't really know but someone is definitely staring at me.

The Quiet Neighbors
How fast can I go from the edge of the driveway to the front door? Tonight - extremely fast! the Sky is clear and there's no moon. Have you ever had the feeling someone is watching you but you just don't know where? well, that's the feeling I got tonight when taking the garbage can back to the house. there's something about very dark nights and a light wind flowing through the tree tops. Since I tend to carry a digital camera with me, I took a quick shot of the "neighbors" and ran back to the house. I still need to pick up the garbage can!
The picture shows some unusual spots by the tree....maybe I'm reading too much in to this.
Mental Note: Turn on flood lights before taking/picking up the garbage can at the end of the driveway.

The Ada Witch, Fact or Myth
Back in May of 2009 we moved in to the house directly accross the street from Findlay Cementary. Initially, we didn't think much about the fact we are living next to a cemetery, but a few incidents (and pictures) made us pay more attention to our seemingly quiet neighbors. We are "late night" people so we tend to hear things, specially when taking the garbage out to th curb. We've also had a few get-togethers with friends (Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day) and have noticed a few "odd"happenings accross the street.
For example, I took a picture this july in our driveway which caught my eye. This picture shows a shadow/mist next to one of the gravestones. It's odd due to the fact that 3 or 4 pictures in the same location were taken in succession (a few minutes apart) and none of the other pictures show the shadow/mist. If you look closely at the second picture, behind the 4th person (left to right), you can see the shadow. That shadow is not present in the first picture.
I will regularly post other odd events we've experienced in the last six months, including the lady dressed in a blue dress that seems to frequent the cemetery.
